Kids' brain, like the sponge, has the bility to aborb the big information more easily than the adults brain which is developed fully.
Children are compared to sponges in that they are more capable of soaking up large amounts of information with greater ease than the fully developed adult brain.

2. Governments spend a lot of money exploring outer space. Some people think this money would be better spent improving life on earth.

There are different opinions about that the exploring outer space is the most greatest work in human history.
People might argue that exploring outer space is one of mankind's greatest achievements.

For example, stepping the first step on Moon is the great work from the science in 1960's, and now it is very astonishing that the picture taken from Mars can be sent to the earth.
For example, landing on the moon was a major feat of science in the 1960's and now landing cameras on Mars and sending photos back to Earth is amazing to say the least.

The human nature has the curiosity and tries to seek the  answer for the everything around them. It is the originally different element of the human from the animal.
It is mankind's natural tendency to be be curious about everything about us, to ask questions and seek answers. This is, in essence, what separates us from animals.
