Nelvana's Bob & Margaret wins animation award

TORONTO (CP) – Bob & Margaret, the adult comedy series produced by Toronto's Nelvana animation house, has won the award for best prime-time animation series at the Eighth World Animation Celebration.

The honour was handed out last Sunday at a ceremony in Los Angeles. Loren Mawhinney, vice-president of Canadian production at Global TV, expressed pride in being associated with the show. We are delighted that our first foray into Canadian prime-time animation has been awarded this prestigious honour.

Based on the Oscar-winning cartoon short Bob's Birthday, the series relates the misadventures of a British dentist and his wife and their two dogs. Originally set in London, the Canadian-financed series has the characters relocated to Toronto in its current broadcast season for some predictable fish-out-of-water humour.
